Swiss companies’ involvement in reconstruction works in Karabakh and Eastern Zangezur discussed

Speaker of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova met Friday with Ambassador of the Swiss Confederation to the country Thomas Stähli.

During the meeting, the sides discussed further expansion of cooperation between the two countries across political, economic, cultural, and humanitarian domains. The parties hailed the current level of bilateral relations developing in the spirit of friendship and cooperation. The two noted the significance of high-level reciprocal visits and regular political dialogue in further promoting ties between Azerbaijan and Switzerland.

They pointed out the importance of further expanding interparliamentary cooperation as one of the main area of bilateral ties. Speaker Sahiba Gafarova also underlined the significance of mutual contacts, including the role of the friendship groups in further enhancing cooperation between the two countries’ legislative bodies.

The sides praised the successful cooperation between the two countries in the field of energy. Highlighting a large number of alternative energy sources in Azerbaijan, they stressed the prospects for cooperation in this area.

Speaker Sahiba Gafarova briefed the Swiss diplomat about the current developments in the region, including the ongoing large-scale restoration works in the Karabakh and Eastern Zangezur regions. The meeting also saw discussions on the involvement of the Swiss companies in the reconstruction works currently underway in these areas.
