Azerbaijan, ICDO member states explore prospects for cooperation

On the sidelines of the 58th session of the Executive Council of the International Civil Defense Organization (ICDO) held in Baku, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Emergency Situations, Colonel General Kamaladdin Heydarov, met with the heads of civil defense agencies from ICDO member states.

Minister Heydarov held bilateral meetings with Hazem Farouk, Director General of the Egyptian Civil Protection Authority; Rajabali Rahmonali, Chairman of the Committee for Emergency Situations and Civil Defense of Tajikistan; Hamad Othman Al-Dehaimi, Director-General of the General Directorate of Civil Defense of Qatar; and Vadim Sinyavsky, Minister of Emergency Situations of Belarus.

During the meetings, Kamaladdin Heydarov reaffirmed Azerbaijan’s readiness to enhance international cooperation in addressing both man-made and natural emergencies. He emphasized the value of strengthening collaboration between Azerbaijan’s relevant agencies and those of other countries, both bilaterally and within the ICDO framework.

The Azerbaijani minister also briefed his counterparts on the country’s achievements in civil defense and emergency preparedness, implemented under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, and highlighted ongoing projects aimed at safeguarding the population.

The visiting officials commended the excellent organization of the 58th ICDO Executive Council session in Baku.

Discussions focused on the current state and future prospects of cooperation between ICDO member states, stressing the importance of the Baku-hosted session in deepening collaborative ties.

The meetings also addressed other issues of mutual interest.
