October 17 marks Fuzuli City Day

October 17 has been inscribed in the history of the Azerbaijani people as the day of liberation of the city of Fuzuli from the Armenian occupation.

 

On July 31, 2023, President Ilham Aliyev signed an Order “On the establishment of city days in the liberated territories of the Republic of Azerbaijan".

 

Under the document, October 17 – Fuzuli City Day will be solemnly celebrated every year.

 

Azerbaijan’s city of Fuzuli was occupied by the Armenian armed forces on August 23, 1993. As a result of the successful military operations carried out by the Azerbaijani Armed Forces under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, the Fuzuli district and its 22 settlements were liberated from the occupation.
