Sheikhulislam Allahshukur Pashazade hosts Iftar ceremony on occasion of holy month of Ramadan

Chairman of the Caucasus Muslims Office Sheikhulislam Allahshukur Pashazade hosted an Iftar ceremony on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan at his residence.

The event began with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran.

Addressing the traditional Iftar ceremony, Sheikhulislam Allahshukur Pashazade highlighted the virtues and blessings of the holy month of Ramadan, drawing attention to the religious tolerance in Azerbaijan. Sheikhulislam Allahshukur Pashazade hailed the state care and attention, as well as the patronage and care of President Ilham Aliyev for religious communities in Azerbaijan.

Sheikhulislam Allahshukur Pashazade said that the tolerance model in Azerbaijan could be an example to the whole world, adding that such a pleasant, friendly environment is unique.

The Chairman of the Caucasus Muslims Office emphasized that mosques and churches destroyed during the 30-year-long enemy occupation are being restored today thanks to the Heydar Aliyev Foundation led by First Vice-President of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva, with all the necessary conditions created for the comfortable use of believers.

Speaking at the event, Ali Ahmadov, Deputy Speaker of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis, underlined that state-religion relations in Azerbaijan are formed based on the principles of mutual respect and secularism, that the state is tolerant of religious beliefs. He underscored that society attaches importance to maintaining harmony between different faiths.

In their remarks, the leaders of religious confessions in Azerbaijan emphasized that their gathering in such a blessed month of Ramadan is an exemplary multicultural reality of life in Azerbaijan. They commended the coexistence of representatives of different religions in Azerbaijan in a friendly and fraternal atmosphere, in peace and as members of one family as an example of interfaith mutual understanding, which is of universal significance.

The ceremony followed by an Iftar meal for the participants.
