OTS mission observes transparent and fair elections in Azerbaijan

The mission of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) conducted observations in Baku city, as well as Absheron and Khizi districts during the snap parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan, carrying out its activities in accordance with international standards, Omer Kocaman, the OTS Deputy Secretary General said, Report informs.

Kocaman stated that the mission met with representatives of the New Azerbaijan Party and the Democratic Reforms Party, familiarizing themselves with their preparations for the election process. "We also had a detailed meeting with Mazahir Panahov, the Chairman of the Central Election Commission. The mission visited the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to discuss the election process," he added.

Kocaman noted that the polling stations observed opened on time, adhering to standards. "In total, we visited 36 stations. All conditions were created for people to express their free will. No negative incidents were reported," he emphasized.

The OTS representative mentioned that the mission also participated in the vote-counting process. "There were no serious issues affecting the vote count. Moreover, there were no campaign elements near the polling stations, and conditions were provided for people with disabilities to cast their votes," he said.

Kocaman concluded that the elections were conducted in an open and transparent manner, in accordance with international standards. "I wish the election results to be successful for brotherly Azerbaijan," he expressed.
