Baku hosts 8th meeting of Azerbaijan-Serbia Intergovernmental Commission

The 8th meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on trade and economic cooperation between Azerbaijan and Serbia was held in capital Baku.

Addressing the meeting, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Population Sahil Babayev stressed that the political will and efforts of the leaders of Serbia and Azerbaijan had contributed to the development of bilateral ties, which have reached the strategic partnership level.

“We share the same values in the international political arena. Serbia has always supported the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. I congratulate the return of refugees and internally displaced persons to their lands,” said Nikola Selaković, Minister of Culture of Serbia, co-chair of the Azerbaijan-Serbia Intergovernmental Commission from the Serbian side.

In his remarks, Azerbaijan’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Fariz Rzayev hailed the vibrant cooperation existing between the two countries, adding that Azerbaijan and Serbia support each other, especially in the issue of territorial integrity.

Speaking at the event, Azerbaijan’s Deputy Minister of Economy Sahib Mammadov invited his Serbian counterparts to the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) scheduled to be held in Baku this November.

Other speakers at the meeting also included Ambassador of Serbia to Azerbaijan Dragan Vladisavljević and State Secretary at the Serbian Ministry of Economy Andrej Horvat.

Then the co-chairs of the Intergovernmental Commission signed the Protocol on the outcomes of the meeting, which provides for cooperation in varies areas.
