All presidential candidates have been given equal conditions for conducting election campaigns, reads an interim report of the CIS observer mission based on the results of monitoring the preparations for the presidential elections in Azerbaijan, Report informs.

Observers noted that the election campaign in the country “is taking place calmly and in an organized manner, in strict accordance with the requirements of the election legislation.”

The report emphasizes that the central and lower election commissions and the media are informing the country’s population in detail about the election campaign.

The leadership of the Central Election Commission and employees of the CEC Secretariat regularly hold briefings and press conferences, which highlight the progress of preparations for the elections and explain the norms of election legislation, the interim report of the observation mission notes.

“The Central Commission is conducting an active campaign encouraging citizens of the country to take part in the elections, which includes regular broadcasts of information videos and public service announcements on TV and radio, as well as the use of advertising boards, banners and posters to inform voters about voting day,” the report says.

Since January 15, 2024, the Independent Media Center of the Central Election Commission “Elections 2024” has been operating, where representatives of national and foreign media can receive up-to-date information on the progress of the election campaign.

As many as 169 people are accredited as part of the CIS observer mission: representatives from Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, as well as the Interparliamentary Assembly of the CIS Member States, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Belarus and Russia, and the CIS Executive Committee.

There are eight observers working on a long-term basis. Their activities are coordinated by the Mission Headquarters in Baku.

Early presidential elections will take place in Azerbaijan on February 7. The Central Election Commission registered seven presidential candidates - Ilham Aliyev from the ruling New Azerbaijan Party, self-nominated Zahid Oruj and Fuad Aliyev, Razi Nurullayev from the National Front Party, Fazil Mustafa from the Great Creation Party, Elshad Musayev from the Great Azerbaijan Party, Gudrat Hasanguliyev from the People’s Front of Integral Azerbaijan party.
