Turkish Vice President visits Azerbaijan`s Milli Majlis

Speaker of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova has held a meeting with a Turkish delegation led by Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz.

 

Highlighting the flourishing relations between friendly and fraternal nations of Türkiye and Azerbaijan, Speaker Sahiba Gafarova noted that these ties are developing in alignment with the “One Nation, Two States” concept of Great Leader Heydar Aliyev.

 

Describing Azerbaijan-Türkiye relations as unique globally, the Speaker highlighted the shared stance and mutual support between the two countries. She mentioned to the Second Karabakh War and the devastating earthquake in Türkiye as clear examples of this unwavering support.

 

The sides stressed the exceptional role of high-level and reciprocal visits in developing bilateral relations, referring to the visits of the two countries` leaders and meetings held within the international events that have contributed to the development of bonds in all areas.

 

The parties also emphasized the importance of the Shusha Declaration, signed on June 15, 2021, to elevate bilateral relations to the level of alliance.

 

Touching upon the economic ties, crucial for Azerbaijan and Türkiye relations, the pair stressed that economic relations are getting stronger year by year and the trade turnover is increasing under the guidance of the heads of state. They underlined the vital role of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission in developing economic cooperation.

 

Highlighting the importance of interparliamentary cooperation, Sahiba Gafarova underscored the significance of the Agreement on cooperation between the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Turkish Grand National Assembly. Alongside bilateral cooperation, she emphasized the joint activity of the parliaments of Türkiye and Azerbaijan.

 

Speaking about the celebration of the 100th anniversary of Great Leader Heydar Aliyev this year, Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz praised the unparalleled services of the Great Leader in the development of modern independent Azerbaijan. Noting the importance of intensifying reciprocal visits, the Vice President of Türkiye hailed the close cooperation of the two countries within international organizations, including the Organization of Turkic States.

 

Cevdet Yilmaz commended Azerbaijan for liberating its territories from occupation, and expressed his gratitude for Azerbaijan`s support during the earthquake in Türkiye.

 

The parties also lauded Azerbaijan-Türkiye cooperation in the ongoing restoration and construction works in Karabakh and East Zangazur.

 

Other dignitaries present at the meeting, included head of the working group on Azerbaijan-Türkiye interparliamentary relations Ahliman Amiraslanov, MP Hikmet Mammadov and head of Türkiye-Azerbaijan interparliamentary relations friendship group Samil Ayrim, who shared their views on the current and future relations between the two countries.
