During a working visit to Italy, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Agriculture Majnun Mammadov met with Qu Dongyu, Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).
The meeting, held at FAO’s headquarters in Rome, emphasized the importance of projects implemented under the partnership framework with FAO and discussed future cooperation prospects.
Mammadov highlighted the significance of hosting COP29 in Azerbaijan, addressing measures to minimize the impact of climate change on agriculture. He underscored that agricultural development is a priority in Azerbaijan, drawing attention to state support mechanisms and ongoing reforms in this sector.
Qu Dongyu hailed the high-level relations between Azerbaijan and FAO, noting that Azerbaijan is a key partner. He highlighted the significant potential for digital development in Azerbaijan’s rural areas and shared views on expanding cooperation.
The parties exchanged ideas on projects implemented under the FAO-Azerbaijan Partnership Program and their outcomes. They noted Azerbaijan’s active participation in FAO’s high-level bodies and discussed prospects for hosting international events on multilateral partnership platforms.
The meeting concluded with a broad exchange of views on topics of mutual interest.
