ANAS Institute of Archeology and Anthropology Ajdar Babazadeh, head of the experimental archaeological laboratory, won the "Main grant competition-2023" project of the Azerbaijan Science Foundation dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the national leader Heydar Aliyev, entitled "Traceological and experimental analyzes of the techno-typology of the tool industry of the Stone Age of Karabakh" was on a scientific mission in St. Petersburg of the Russian Federation.

The head of the project, Ajdar Babazadeh, along with several European countries, conducted a practical and theoretical experiment at the Experimental-traceological laboratory at the Institute of Material and Cultural History of the Russian Academy of Sciences, located in St. Petersburg, where traceological and experimental archaeological research first appeared. The experimental program was led by N.Skakun, an employee of the said laboratory.

The practice-training process is focused on the study of the typological, technological and trace-ological characteristics and morphology of ancient labor tools. In order to understand the paleo-economy and paleo-ecosystem, the techno-typological diversity and differentiation in the prehistoric tool bag of the ancestral hominins is visualized.

According to the program, the visit started with acquaintance with the rich Paleolithic materials of the institute. Later, investigations were carried out in order to carry out microscopic analyzes and experimental applications to study the technology of the tool industry.

Since the main goal of the project research is focused on the study of the Paleolithic economy, experimental applications and traceological analyzes of archaeological materials were preferred in the experimental program. Microscopes were used for micro-analyses-traceological studies on archaeological and experimental materials. In addition, the method of applying experimental studies in laboratory conditions was implemented.

During the visit, Ajdar Babazade also met with the head of the Institute of Material and Cultural History of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Professor Andrey Polyakov, and discussed the prospects of scientific research. The books published in recent years at the Institute of Archeology and Anthropology of ANAS were presented to Professor Andrey Polyakov.
