Pakistani Deputy PM kicks off Kabul visit for signing of Framework Agreement on Uzbekistan–Afghanistan–Pakistan Railway Project

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, began a day-long visit to Kabul, Afghanistan, on Thursday to sign the Framework Agreement on a Joint Feasibility Study for the Uzbekistan–Afghanistan–Pakistan (UAP) Railway Project.

Upon arrival in Kabul, the Deputy Prime Minister was warmly welcomed by senior Afghan government officials. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he is accompanied by a high-level delegation, including the Minister for Railways, the Prime Minister’s Special Representative for Afghanistan, and the Secretary of the Ministry of Railways.

The UAP Railway Project aims to establish a railway link connecting Uzbekistan with Pakistan via Afghanistan, thereby providing landlocked Central Asian states with access to Pakistani seaports. By facilitating regional trade and transit, the project is expected to foster regional stability, economic growth, and development.

The Deputy Prime Minister’s visit highlights Pakistan’s strong commitment to the successful realization of the UAP Railway Project. The signing of the Framework Agreement on the Joint Feasibility Study among the three participating countries marks a significant step toward the project's implementation.

During his visit, the Deputy Prime Minister will also meet with the Acting Foreign Minister of Afghanistan and pay a courtesy call on the Acting Prime Minister to discuss bilateral issues and exchange views on regional and international developments.
