Ramiz Askari, the well-known literary critic and publicist of Azerbaijan, professor of BSU, Honored journalist, turns 70 today. This name has been well known to the scientific, artistic and public opinion of our country and the Turkic-speaking peoples for many years as a diligent researcher and promoter of common literary and cultural values. For more than 40 years, Ramiz Askar's multifaceted creativity, with whom I have been in close contact as a patriotic intellectual, outstanding writer in the field of journalism and Turkology, covers 3 main activities that are closely related to each other: journalist, scientist, translator.

Let's start with the fact that since the 70s of the last century, our national leader Heydar Aliyev has been sending thousands of young people to get higher education outside of Azerbaijan, trying to train them as highly qualified personnel and then return to better help the development of our country. Ramiz was one of them. Our young compatriot, who was born on January 10, 1954 in the village of Karachanta, Gyumru District (Amasiya District) of Western Azerbaijan, graduated from high school with a gold medal, and was admitted to the Journalism Faculty of Baku State University in 1973 after taking a special exam. Ramiz, who studied here with excellent grades, was sent to the journalism faculty of Moscow State University, one of the highest and world-renowned universities of the USSR, after completing his third year. He returned to Baku after completing his studies in 1978.

In the early years, Ramiz Asker worked in the editorial office of Azerbaijan Radio's foreign programs and in various media outlets. During this period, he proved that he was a talented and hard-working journalist by managing at a high level the management of "Azerbaijan Bu Gun" magazine published in Azerbaijani Turkish, Arabic, Persian, English, French and German languages, and "Odlar yurdu" newspaper published in Cyrillic, Latin and Arabic alphabets. did. In the last years of the Soviet era, this publication, which turned into a tribune of patriotism, became a beacon of speech in the expansion of the national liberation movement and the awakening of national consciousness. On its pages are the founders of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, parliament, state attributes, coat of arms, flag, anthem, money, etc. a series of articles were given about him, which were kept secret from the people until then.

Ramiz Eskar, who was able to recognize his signature among Azerbaijanis and Turkic peoples of the world with his mature journalistic activity, was the special correspondent for Azerbaijan of "Hürriyet" newspaper (Istanbul) and International News Agency (Ankara) in the following years. He worked in "XXI Asr" and "Meydan" newspapers, worked as a deputy editor in "Xalq newspaper" and was elected secretary of the Azerbaijan Journalists' Union.

Since 2003, Ramiz Asker has moved to the field of science and higher education without stopping his media activity and worked at the Turkology department of Baku State University. In the first years, he conducted special courses on the topics and sources of "History of Turkish culture", "Basics of Turkology", "Divanü lüğat-it-turk", "Kitabi-Dade Gorgud", "Qutadgu bilig", "Manas" in Azerbaijani and Russian languages. , worked on scientific work. In 2007-2012, Mr. Ramiz was the head of the literary translation scientific-research laboratory of the Faculty of Philology of BSU. In 2012, he was elected the head of the literature of the Turkic peoples, and in 2017, the head of the Turkology department. Since 2023, he has been the head of the Turkological research laboratory. During his tenure at BSU, Ramiz Askar wrote 28 original books, monographs, educational materials and programs, and wrote more than 300 scientific articles. Among these publications are "Mahmud Kashgari and his work "Divanü lüghat-it-turk", "Genius Turkish linguist Mahmud Kashgari", "Qutadgu bilig", "Monuments of Orkhon", "Literature of Turkish peoples", "Kitabi-Dade Gorgud" the third manuscript", "Alishir Navayi: personality and art", "Alishir Navayi's lyrics" monographs are of special value. His 2 monographs ("Researches of Uzbek literature", "Alishir Navayi and his khamsa") were published in Uzbek language in Tashkent. In Bishkek, the scholar's book "Azerbaijani literature of the period of independence" was prepared for publication in Kyrgyz language.

An interesting aspect should be noted here, that every book and scientific work written by Ramiz is considered "first" on that topic. He is also known as the scientist who wrote the first candidacy on the work "Gutadğu bilig" and the first doctoral theses on Divanü lüğat-it-turk, which are considered the great sources and cornerstones of Turkology.

Translation work also occupies an important place in Ramiz Askar's scientific activity. He translated 66 books from Turkish, Uzbek, Kazakh, Kyrgyz, Turkmen, Uighur, Tatar, Bashkir, Gagauz, Russian and German languages ​​into our mother tongue, enriching our national literature and culture. At the head of these translations is Mahmud Kashgari's "Divanü lüghat-it-turk" (4 volumes), which is the largest, oldest and richest source of Turkology. This translation, dedicated to the dear memory of the great leader Heydar Aliyev, was published in 2006.

In addition, the great poet and thinker Yusif Balasagunlu's poem "Kutadgu bilik", Alishir Navayi's khamsa (5 volumes) and treatises (2 volumes), Faruq Sumer's "Oghuzlar", Bahaddin Ögel's "Turkish Mythology", Zahireddin Muhammad Babur's "Baburnama" books, The divans of Mehri Khatun and Sultan Huseyn Baygara, the selected works of Nurmohammed Andalib, Azadi, Makhdumgul Faragi, Molla Nafas, Abdulla Tukay, Toktogul, Bekir Chobanzade, Magjan Jumabay, Robert Minulli, Todur Zanet, "The Secret History of the Mongols", "The History of Turkish Literature" ni (2 volumes), Uzbek and Turkmen poetry anthologies form a whole series.

During the last visit of President Ilham Aliyev to Tashkent, the President of Uzbekistan Shavgat Mirziyoyev said good things about the translations of the scholar Alishir Navayi. Gurbangulu Berdimuhammedov's "Akhaltaka Ati", Rajab Albayrag's "Iran of the Turks" (2 volumes), Ibrahim Gafasoglu's "Turkish National Culture", Osman Turan's "History of the Ideology of Turkish World Power" by N. Ozerov, translated by Ramiz Askar, and finally, N. Ozerov's "Ilham Aliyev: "I believe in my Azerbaijan" books were received with great interest and sympathy by the literary and scientific community of our country.

Working with all his strength for the further expansion and development of scientific, cultural and literary relations between the Turkic peoples, the scientist participated in more than 80 conferences and symposia organized in different countries and read interesting reports. Lectures and seminars conducted by teacher Ramiz on the literature of Turkic peoples at BSU are distinguished by their scientific-pedagogical depth and national spirit, students from other courses also come to his classes.

For his services in the field of media, Ramiz Askar was awarded the prestigious local and foreign creative awards "Golden pen" (2 times), "Hasan bey Zardabi", "Humay", "Yeni Orhun" (Turkey) and "Islama xidmed" (Kuwait). . In 2010, he was awarded the honorary title of "Honored Journalist of Azerbaijan" for his effective work in the development of our national journalism. He is a member of Azerbaijan Journalists and Writers Union, International Press Institute (Vienna), Eurasian Writers (Ankara) and Uzbekistan Writers Union.

Ramiz Asker Sanballe received Turkey's "Service to the Turkish World" and "Golden Apple", Uzbekistan's "Babur", Ukraine's "Bekir Chobanzade", Turkmenistan's "Golden Century" awards, International Turkish Academy's "Wilhelm Thomsen" and "Alishir Navayi" awards for his researches and high-level translations. ” was awarded gold medals, medals and literary awards of TurkSOY, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Tatarstan and Russia. In 2021, he was elected an academician of "Turan" Academy of Sciences, an honorary professor of Andijan State University named after Babur, an honorary citizen of Navayi city.

Ramiz Askar's scientific-pedagogical and creative activity was highly appreciated by our state. In 2014, he was awarded the Order of Fame for his effective scientific and literary-publicistic activities. In 2022, he was awarded the Order of "Friendship" of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
