We have convened today in response to the violence committed by the French police against two of our activists and their families. These activists are conscientious and respected individuals in their political and professional endeavors. We held a press conference to voice our protest against the shameful and unacceptable actions carried out by the police,” former spokesperson of the "Corsica Libera" Party Petru Antone Tomasi told AZERTAC.

He highlighted that the police crackdown targeted activists of the "Nazione" Party, just two days after its formation and shortly before the visit of French Minister of the Interior Gérald Darmanin to Corsica.

Tomasi pointed out that such instances of police violence, preceding visits by French government officials or following initiatives by independence supporters, have become systematic. “This reflects the illusion of power-sharing in France, where everything remains under the control of the state.”

Petru Antone Tomasi emphasized that under the influence of the French state, the police are eager to suppress the “Nazione” political movement, which opposes Paris`s current strategy.

During the recent meeting of the newly established “Nazione” Party, they declared their intention to intensify their efforts and mobilize for a protest during Gérald Darmanin`s visit.

Their primary objective is to oppose repression and demand recognition of the Corsican people and their rights.
