Azerbaijan, Türkiye discuss legal cooperation

Prosecutor General of Azerbaijan Kamran Aliyev has met with Birol Akgün, the newly appointed Ambassador of Türkiye to Azerbaijan.

Welcoming the guest, Kamran Aliyev emphasized that, thanks to the far-sighted foreign policies of President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan of Türkiye, the relations between the two brotherly countries have grown stronger and evolved into a reliable strategic partnership.

The Prosecutor General highlighted the importance of numerous meetings held between the prosecutor’s offices, justice, and judicial bodies of the two countries, as well as the fruitful dialogue established during international events. He particularly noted the participation of the Turkish prosecutor’s office delegation in the high-level session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) and the 29th Annual Conference of the International Association of Prosecutors, both held in Baku last year.

Ambassador Birol Akgün expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and underscored that the fraternal relations between Türkiye and Azerbaijan have reached the highest level thanks to the successful policies of both heads of state. He expressed his commitment to making maximum efforts to further strengthen these ties.

The meeting also featured a detailed exchange of views on issues related to legal assistance, extradition, prisoner transfer, and other areas of legal cooperation.

In conclusion, Kamran Aliyev wished the ambassador success in his new role and expressed confidence that mutual cooperation would continue to expand in the future.
