As part of its visit to the People’s Republic of China, an Azerbaijani media delegation visited the editorial office of the People’s Daily, one of China’s most prominent media outlets.
During a meeting with the newspaper’s leadership, Ahmad Ismayilov, Executive Director of Azerbaijan’s Media Development Agency, highlighted the extensive and consistent reforms being implemented in the country’s media sector under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev. According to him, these reforms aim to shape and strengthen a sustainable media environment that responds to modern-day challenges and actively contributes to the development of Azerbaijani society.
He also noted that the Azerbaijani state provides comprehensive support to the activities of both traditional and online media outlets, especially by implementing key projects that focus on the digital transformation of print media.
Yu Shaoliang, President of the People’s Daily, provided an overview of the newspaper’s history and operations. He emphasized that the paper delivers news to millions of readers across both print and digital platforms. He expressed confidence that the establishment of a comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries would also strengthen bilateral media cooperation.
Yu Shaoliang highlighted the mutually beneficial collaboration between the People’s Daily and the Azerbaijan State News Agency (AZERTAC), praising AZERTAC’s continued support for the newspaper’s initiatives.
The meeting included discussions on the Belt and Road Initiative, launched by China in 2013, which aims to develop infrastructure and strengthen connectivity across Eurasian countries. The sides also emphasized the initiative’s contribution to international cooperation.
