Chair of German Bundestag Committee: Azerbaijan's model of multiculturalism and tolerance is an excellent example to the entire world

As part of a visit to the Federal Republic of Germany, an Azerbaijani delegation led by Ramin Mammadov, Chairman of the State Committee for Work with Religious Associations, met with Armin Laschet, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the German Bundestag.

Discussing issues related to interfaith dialogue and the promotion of traditions of coexistence, the parties emphasized the importance of enhancing cooperation between Azerbaijan and Germany in this area.

The chairman of the committee provided detailed information about the Azerbaijani government’s support for the religious sphere, the assistance provided to religious communities, and the projects implemented. Ramin Mammadov highlighted Azerbaijan's unique example of interfaith harmony, emphasizing that the country's traditions of tolerance play a vital role in preventing racism and discrimination. He also emphasized that the attention paid to the heritage of Christian Germans in Azerbaijan embodies the country’s policy of multiculturalism.

Recalling his visit to Azerbaijan, Armin Laschet emphasized that he witnessed the peaceful coexistence of representatives of all religions in Azerbaijan. He praised the preservation of German heritage in the country. Laschet described Azerbaijan’s model of multiculturalism and tolerance as one of the best examples of coexistence based on tolerance and multicultural traditions.

In his remarks, Azerbaijani Ambassador to Germany Nasimi Aghayev noted that the high-level political relations between the two countries create opportunities for the development of cooperation in all areas. The ambassador emphasized that Azerbaijan is known as a country where different religious communities coexist peacefully and maintain mutual understanding.

Rabbi Abraham Cooper, Associate Dean and Director of Global Social Action for the Simon Wiesenthal Center, shared his views on the importance of developing dialogue between religions and cultures. He noted the importance of strengthening mutual cooperation to promote religious tolerance.
