The Minister of Multiculturalism of the Australian state of New South Wales has responded to the letter of the Azerbaijani community regarding the theme of the films demonstrated at the Armenian film festival, the State Committee on Work with Diaspora told XQ.

Chief Executive Officer of the Ministry of Multiculturalism of New South Wales Joseph La Posta, in his letter addressed to President of the Australian Azerbaijani Association, Resident Coordinator of the Council of Azerbaijanis for Australia and Oceania countries in Sydney Michael Oyta, has hailed the Azerbaijani Community’s contributions to cultural diversity in New South Wales.

“Undoubtedly, the Azerbaijani community in New South Wales has contributed to making this State one of the most peaceful and harmonious multicultural societies in the world. Our resilience as a multicultural society can be measured by the way we come together across our differences to support each other in times of need,” he said.

“I acknowledge that the conflict in the Karabakh region is a concerning and complex issue. I know the community will ensure the conflict does not affect its relationship with fellow Australian communities here in New South Wales.

Multicultural NSW takes the issue of hateful and divisive influences very seriously and we welcome your suggestion of a constructive dialogue on the concerns you have raised. A representative from Multicultural NSW will reach out in the coming weeks to arrange a time to meet and discuss these matters with you in more detail,” the CEO emphasized.
