German authorities have strengthened measures to combat espionage and disinformation after the publication of a recording of a conversation between Bundeswehr officers during which the attack on the Crimean Bridge was discussed, German Interior Minister Nancy Feser told the Funke media group, Report informs referring to TASS.

“We have strengthened our measures to protect against espionage and disinformation and are constantly responding to the evolving situation,” the minister said. “The counterintelligence department of the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution (BfV) has been significantly strengthened in personnel and technical terms,” she added.

The main focus of the BfV’s work now is the fight against Russian intelligence activities. The head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs accused Moscow of trying to discredit Germany, manipulate public opinion in Germany and cause a split in German society.
