Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo doesn’t rule out that his country won’t open the border with the Russian Federation after the end of the current lockdown on January 14, if the threat of Russia sending refugees from third countries to the border remains, Report informs referring to the Yle portal.

“Based on the information that I have now, nothing has changed in the Russian Federation. Finland will not open the border if there are clear signs or threats that Russia will immediately resume its operation,” Orpo said.

He noted that a thorough assessment by the authorities will be carried out to make a decision.

“In its decisions, the government has concluded that border security is such an important issue for us that it has and will continue to have priority until we find a final solution,” Orpo added.
