Latvian authorities deporting over 1,200 Russians who didn’t apply for residence permit

Latvia plans to deport from the country more than 1,200 Russians who have not submitted documents to obtain a residence permit by the deadline of November 30, Report informs referring to local media with reference to the Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs.

 

“At least 1,213 Russian citizens will be expelled from Latvia. They did not submit documents to obtain a residence permit in Latvia by the deadline established by amendments to the immigration law,” the department said.

 

The final number of those subject to deportation from the country will still be updated.

 

In addition, the National Electronic Mass Media Council (NEPLP) has closed access to all sites in the country associated with the Russian company Yandex.

 

The Latvian authorities also plan in the future to block access to Yandex Music.
