Chairman of Turkmenistan’s Halk Maslahaty, President of Uzbekistan, and Prime Minister of Azerbaijan hold trilateral meeting in Awaza

On August 5, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ali Asadov held a trilateral meeting in Awaza.

Ali Asadov conveyed greetings from President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev to Chairman Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. They expressed their gratitude for the greetings and asked the Prime Minister to extend their regards to President Ilham Aliyev.

Berdimuhamedov and Mirziyoyev emphasized Azerbaijan’s special role within the Central Asian family of nations and the Consultative Council of Heads of State. They praised President Ilham Aliyev’s significant contributions to this framework, noting Azerbaijan’s importance for Eurasia and the global community alongside regional countries.

Berdimuhamedov highlighted that the Central Asia–Azerbaijan cooperation format is already a reality, meeting current demands and requiring permanent institutionalization. He underscored President Ilham Aliyev’s view that Azerbaijan–Turkmenistan–Uzbekistan trilateral cooperation is essential, describing the meeting as the foundation for this new format.

During the first trilateral meeting, discussions focused on strengthening humanitarian and cultural ties and advancing economic cooperation. Key priorities included expanding strategic collaboration in the transport, logistics, and energy sectors, with mutual interest expressed in deepening these ties.

Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted that during his recent visit to Azerbaijan, an agreement was reached with President Ilham Aliyev on the construction of a mosque in the Fuzuli district and the establishment of sister-city relations between Fuzuli and Arkadag.
