Within the framework of the UN Conference on Climate Change (COP28) held in Dubai, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said it is urgent to work on energy efficiency and renewable energy resources, Report informs.

According to him, now is the time to seek a compromise for solutions to this issue.

“COP28 once again proved the importance of multilateralism to respond to global challenges. Decarbonization will create new jobs, but certain sections of society may suffer negative consequences, so governments should provide socio-economic support to these sections and prepare a relevant plan,” Guterres said.

Guterres stressed that developed countries should help and provide financial support to developing countries in this regard.

The UN Secretary-General welcomed the consensus reached at COP28 and noted that countries should prepare a national climate plan: “It is important to establish international multilateral banks as part of the fight against climate change. These banks can help countries that need help fighting climate change.”
