AZERTAC receives "Victory" 2023 International Sports Award

The Azerbaijan State News Agency (AZERTAC) has been honored with the "Zafar" (Victory) 2023 International Sports Award at the celebration event marking the 20th anniversary of the "Sportsman" magazine.

 

Dignitaries present at the event included Olympic, world and European champions, representatives of federations and clubs, as well as other representatives of the sports community.

 

Addressing the event, Editor-in-chief of the “Sportsman” magazine Rashad Gamarshahoglu highlighted the magazine`s illustrious journey over the years.

 

Furthermore, the event featured an award ceremony based on the results of 2023. The ceremony included the presentation of awards, prizes and gifts to the winners in various categories.

 

Executive Secretary of the “Olympic World” newspaper Anar Ahmadov was honored with the "Sports Journalist of the Year" award.

 

The “Sportsman” magazine met its readers for the first time on January 31, 2004. Along with promoting sports and the Olympic Movement, the magazine established the "Zafar" (Victory) High Sports Achievement Award in 2007 with the support of the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Azerbaijan. This award is presented to athletes, coaches, specialists with the highest sports achievements, as well as various institutions supporting Azerbaijani sports. On January 29, 2016, Secretary General of the International Sports Press Association (AIPS) Maltese Charles Camenzuli and French Christophe Mousset were presented with the "Victory" award for their contributions to the development of sports. With this event, the "Sportsman" magazine`s project earned the status of the "Victory" International Sports Award.
