Today, Europe’s security faces numerous challenges, ranging from military conflicts to humanitarian crises. Azerbaijan is fully committed to peace, security, and regional stability. We believe that lasting peace can only be achieved through dialogue, mutual respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as compliance with international law,” said Sevinj Fataliyeva, a member of the Azerbaijani Parliament’s delegation to the OSCE PA.

Describing the aftermath of the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan as one of the most pressing security challenges in the region, Fataliyeva noted that while Azerbaijan is actively working to normalize the situation, unresolved humanitarian issues pose a serious threat to long-term peace.

Regarding the mine threat in the liberated territories, Fataliyeva stressed that thousands of people, including children, have fallen victim to landmines over the past three decades. “Azerbaijan’s liberated territories remain among the most heavily contaminated places globally, posing a serious obstacle to post-conflict reconstruction and the safe return of former displaced persons,” she underscored.

She also highlighted the unknown fate of about 4,000 Azerbaijanis since the early 1990s, noting that the mass graves discovered in the liberated territories prove the gross violation of human rights. “The families have the right to know the truth, and Armenia must provide full information about the missing persons in line with its humanitarian obligations,” she stated.

Emphasizing the OSCE PA’s crucial role in addressing these issues, Fataliyeva concluded that strengthening international cooperation would contribute to peace and stability in both mine clearance and ensuring accountability for war crimes.
