Azerbaijani delegation participates in UN Civil Society Conference
 
The Azerbaijani delegation participated in the 2024 UN Civil Society Conference in Nairobi, Kenya, Report informs, citing the Agency for State Support to Non-Governmental Organizations.

According to the agency, the event marks the first time the UN Civil Society Conference is being held in the global south, with around 2000 participants expected, including registered civil society organizations, academic institutions, think tanks, government representatives, private sector companies, and UN entities.

The global conference was organized in support of the Summit of the Future, which will be held on September 22–23, 2024, at the UN headquarters in New York with the participation of world leaders. The UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres is also expected to arrive in Kenya to attend the UN Civil Society Conference. One of the main topics of the two-day conference is global climate change.

The Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Kenya, Sultan Hajiyev, representative of the department of work and communication with NGOs of the Presidential Administration, Tural Aliyev, member of the COP29 Organizing Committee, executive director of the State Support Agency for NGOs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Aygun Aliyeva, head of the Department of the Media Development Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Nigar Huseynova, and others are attending the conference.
