The national leader of Azerbaijan, Heydar Aliyev, created today’s state, which is developing along the path he laid down, head of the Russian State Duma Committee on International Affairs, leader of the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia (LDPR) Leonid Slutsky said, the Russian bureau of Report informs.

“We traditionally celebrate the birthday of the great son of the Azerbaijani people, the founder of modern Azerbaijan, Heydar Aliyev. He did an extraordinary amount of work. Most recently, we celebrated the fiftieth anniversary of the Baikal-Amur Mainline, the construction of which is inextricably linked with the name of Heydar Aliyev,” he noted.

The MP expressed confidence that Heydar Aliyev would be proud of his son, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, who fulfilled the behests of his great father: “Ilham Aliyev turned Azerbaijan into one of the most prosperous countries, brought home Karabakh, which was a bleeding wound not only for Azerbaijanis, but for everyone in whose heart and soul, like me, Azerbaijan lives.”

“It is difficult to overestimate the significance of this historic victory, and today Azerbaijan is restoring Karabakh, dozens of infrastructurally significant projects and programs using high technologies are being implemented. Many projects are being implemented together with Russia and our cooperation and fraternal relations are strengthening every year,” Slutsky added.
