The Council of Europe Committee of Experts on the Assessment of Measures to Combat Money Laundering and the Financing of Terrorism (MONEYVAL) has published its long-awaited assessment report on Azerbaijan, Report informs.
The report assesses the work done in Azerbaijan over the past five years according to several criteria and the success achieved. The work performed was also found acceptable. Also, various recommendations were given for further work in these areas.
The work done in the investigation of crimes related to the financing of terrorism was highly appreciated.
The document notes that Azerbaijan has achieved a high level of effectiveness in combating the financing of terrorism. The authorities have demonstrated their ability to successfully investigate terrorist financing offenses, with seven convictions made during the assessment period.
