The draft peace treaty presented by Azerbaijan and the normalization of relations with Armenia with the signing of a peace treaty will negate the ability of third parties to take advantage of the situation, head of the Center for Strategic Planning of Georgia, political scientist Levan Mamaladze told Report.

“The project proposed by President Ilham Aliyev for the peace process with Armenia will put an end to the use of the South Caucasus to play out different scenarios in favor of third countries that are trying to create 'conflict points' to influence the region as a whole,” the political scientist noted.

In his opinion, at the moment, many countries are trying to prevent the achievement of peace, especially France, and the delay in the process shows that the Armenian side is listening to it and other Western countries.

Mamaladze reminded that Georgia has repeatedly stated that it is interested in achieving peace between the two countries: “We have also proposed many times and still offer the use of the Georgian platform for negotiating and signing a peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia.”

“Prime Minister Pashinyan realized that over the years of the existence of the separatist regime in Karabakh, it has not brought any benefit to Armenia... I hope that the Armenian side will be able to analyze this situation and understand that a peace agreement with Azerbaijan will only benefit Armenia, and Azerbaijan will eventually put an end to this long-term confrontation,” said the head of the Center for Strategic Planning.

“Armenia can join regional projects when a peace agreement is signed,” concluded Mamaladze. Today, the Middle and Caspian-Black Sea corridors are playing an increasingly important role for communications between Asia and Europe. Azerbaijan and Georgia are the connecting links there, Armenia can also become part of them, he added.
