Speaker of Milli Majlis meets with Moroccan Prime Minister

Visiting Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova met on Thursday with Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Morocco Aziz Akhannouch.

 

Recognizing the strong bilateral ties between Morocco and Azerbaijan, the Prime Minister lauded the reciprocal support the two nations have consistently provided on important issues.

 

The Prime Minister highlighted the importance of the Speaker's visit for developing bilateral relations, considering it as a key indicator of the depth of ties between Azerbaijan and Morocco.

 

Speaker of Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova noted both parliaments` role in the development of relations between the two countries.

 

During the conversation, the sides underlined that last year marked the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Morocco. Sahiba Gafarova noted the important role of high-level reciprocal visits in the development of bilateral relations.

 

The two underlined that Azerbaijan and Morocco successfully cooperate and show solidarity in international organizations. The parties highlighted their mutual support on matters related to territorial integrity and sovereignty. This collaborative stance extends to Morocco's active involvement in the Non-Aligned Movement and the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network, initiated by President Ilham Aliyev.

 

The Speaker of the Milli Majlis also informed the Prime Minister about Azerbaijan's liberation of its lands from occupation in 2020, the situation in the region during the post-conflict period and Azerbaijan's peace initiatives.

 

During the meeting, the parties also explored the potential for cooperation between Azerbaijan and Morocco in the ongoing reconstruction projects in the liberated territories. The Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Morocco congratulated Azerbaijan on the restoration of its territorial integrity and sovereignty.

 

The sides also discussed cooperation between Azerbaijan and Morocco in transport, tourism, agriculture and economic fields.
