Some test-tube and animal studies have indicated that cinnamon stops cancer from spreading. According to a 2010 study in BMC Cancer, cinnamon extract killed cancer cells in a test-tube. Further research in Molecular Carcinogenesis suggests that cinnamon extract can lower the number of breast and ovarian cancer cells.

The credit goes to two ingredients in cinnamon: procyanidins and cinnamaldehyde. In several studies, these ingredients have acted as antioxidants, anti-inflammatories, and antibacterials. Adding 1/2 to one teaspoon of cinnamon (two to four grams) to your daily diet can also reduce blood sugar and inflammation.
