In line with the plan approved by Azerbaijan’s Minister of Defense, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov, a range of events marking 31 December – the Day of Solidarity of World Azerbaijanis and the New Year were organized across all types of troops, forces, and special educational institutions of the Azerbaijan Army.

The events began with a tribute to the National Leader of the Azerbaijani people, Heydar Aliyev, and to the Martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the Motherland. The National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan was performed with the accompaniment of a military band.

Speeches delivered during the events provided detailed information on the history of the establishment of the Day of Solidarity of World Azerbaijanis and its socio-political significance, emphasizing that this commemorative day embodies national unity, love for Azerbaijan, respect for moral values, and a strong sense of devotion to the Motherland.

It was noted that on December 16, 1991, during a meeting of the Supreme Assembly of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic chaired by Heydar Aliyev, a decision was adopted to designate December 31 as the Day of Solidarity of World Azerbaijanis. Following this, the Supreme Assembly appealed to the country’s parliament, the Supreme Soviet, to adopt a corresponding legislative act. On December 25, 1991, the National Council of the Supreme Soviet of the Republic of Azerbaijan passed a law officially declaring December 31 as the Day of Solidarity of World Azerbaijanis.

The events highlighted the exceptional contributions of the founder of the modern Republic of Azerbaijan, National Leader Heydar Aliyev, as well as the achievements of his worthy successor, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Victorious Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Ilham Aliyev, in continuing and advancing the political course set by the National Leader.

As part of the events, documentary films were screened for military personnel, and roundtable discussions and quizzes were organized to instill loyalty to the Motherland and the state, as well as national and moral values.

Concert programs presented by creative teams of the Hazi Aslanov Army Ideological and Cultural Center, the Ganja Garrison Ideological and Cultural Center, and district cultural centers generated great enthusiasm among attendees.

On the eve of the holidays, military personnel visited the families of Martyrs and presented them with festive gifts.
