At the end of last year, over 56.5 million tourists visited Türkiye, said Minister of Culture and Tourism of the Republic, Mehmet Ersoy, on TV100, Report informs.
“A year earlier (in 2022), 51.4 million foreign tourists visited Türkiye. The final data for last year will be announced on January 31. According to my forecasts, the number of tourists who visited our country will exceed 56.5 million,” the minister noted.
He added that most foreigners visited Istanbul and the Mediterranean Antalya.
“About 16 million people visited Istanbul, the same number in the Antalya region,” he said.
Earlier, the Turkish authorities reported that they planned to receive tourism income of $55.6 billion by the end of 2023, and increase it to $100 billion in 2028. In 2022, 44.6 million tourists visited Türkiye, the income of its tourism industry amounted to $46.4 billion.
