The construction and restoration of water reservoirs are more relevant against the background of climate change, Azerbaijani MP Azer Badamov said at today's plenary session of parliament while discussing the bill "On the State Budget for 2025," according to Report.

"It is commendable that the budget drafting process considered both short-term and long-term goals, ensuring the well-being of future generations," Badamov noted.

The MP drew attention to the Banovsha Lake Reservoir near Gusar city, which provided drinking and household water to the district center and surrounding villages for many years. "In recent years, the reservoir has been neglected, leading to its depletion and unusability. Climate change is causing a reduction in freshwater resources," he noted, urging relevant authorities to prioritize the reservoir's restoration.

He also highlighted other pressing issues in Gusar district. Only 57% of the district's settlements are supplied with gas, and the 300-seat Yasag secondary school is in dire need of reconstruction. "Half of the school building's roof is missing, and the other part is in an emergency condition," Badamov said, appealing to the Ministry of Science and Education to address this problem.
