Ministry of Agriculture discuss cooperation with WIPO in Geneva

Representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture of Azerbaijan met with the leaders of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in Geneva in order to strenghen the capacity of the agricultural sector in the country and further deepen international cooperation.

The Azerbaijani delegation included Deputy Minister of Agriculture Ilhama Gadimova, Deputy Chairman of the Agrarian Credit and Development Agency Leyla Jabbarli, Adviser to Azerbaijan's Permanent Mission to the UN Yusif Madatov, along with WIPO officials such as Habip Asan, Director of WIPO's Division for Transition and Developed Countries (TDC), and Ilya Gribkov, head of the section for Caucasian and Eastern European countries.

During the conversation, Habip Asan informed the Azerbaijani delegation about WIPO’s activities and projects in Azerbaijan. He emphasized the importance of the existing cooperation between the two institutions. Asan then noted that the COP29, which will be held in Baku, is an important event in the global fight against climate change. Saying that WIPO will participate in COP29 with a large delegation, Habip Asan added that this event will open new opportunities for mutual cooperation.

Deputy Minister Ilhama Gadimova emphasized Azerbaijan’s rapidly growing agricultural sector and the country's increasing production and export capacity. The meeting also covered future directions for cooperation and the coordination of joint activities within the framework of COP29.
