Since there is no visa regime with Azerbaijan, some fraudsters and businessmen have recently been trying to use this country as a transit hub, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Azerbaijan to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Vilayat Guliyev, told Report.

“For example, people were brought to Sarajevo under the name of obtaining a residence permit in Italy or Croatia, and then they disappeared. As an embassy, we help our compatriots who are in trouble as much as possible. But we would also like them to know that visa-free entry to any European country does not give them the opportunity to roam freely throughout Europe or live in the country of their choice,” he said.

Guliyev also said that the Azerbaijani diaspora in Bosnia and Herzegovina is non-existent: “The total number of our compatriots living in Sarajevo is not more than ten people. There are two or three mixed-marriage families and a few students. We have established contact with this small contingent. They closely participate in all events held through the embassy.”
