Azerbaijan soars in global internet speed rankings

Azerbaijan has made significant strides in its internet infrastructure, as evidenced by the latest Speedtest Global Index report. In January 2025, the country ranked 90th out of 152 nations in terms of high-speed internet, boasting an impressive average speed of 66.91 Mbps. This marks a remarkable 90% increase compared to the same period in 2024, when the average speed stood at 35.25 Mbps.

Report informs, citing Speedtest, that Singapore claimed the top spot in the global broadband internet speed rankings, with an astounding average speed of 336.45 Mbps, while Cuba found itself at the bottom of the list, with a modest 3.04 Mbps.

In addition to its broadband internet improvements, Azerbaijan also made gains in mobile internet speed. The country climbed one position to rank 54th among 104 nations, with an average mobile internet speed of 70.65 Mbps. The United Arab Emirates led the pack with an impressive 545.94 Mbps, while Eritrea lagged behind with a mere 1.88 Mbps.

The capital city of Baku also showcased notable progress, securing the 115th position among 198 cities worldwide in terms of broadband internet speed (67.75 Mbps) and the 80th spot among 152 cities for mobile internet speed (85.08 Mbps).
