Azerbaijani chess player Aydin Suleymanli secured second place in the Challengers section of the Tata Steel Chess Tournament 2025, the year’s first classical super-tournament, held in Wijk aan Zee, the Netherlands.
Czech Grandmaster Thai Dai Van Nguyen won the Challengers with 9.5 points out of 13. Aydin Suleymanli also achieved the same score after defeating Romanian International Master Irina Bulmaga but missed the qualification spot due to the Sonneborn-Berger tiebreak.
