The Azerbaijan men’s and women’s chess teams will be in action on Day 9 of the 45th FIDE Chess Olympiad 2024, taking place in Budapest, Hungary.
The men’s squad comprised of Shahriyar Mammadyarov, Rauf Mammadov, Nijat Abasov, Aydin Suleymanli and Mahammad Muradli will take on rivals from Greece, while the women’s team, comprising of Gunay Mammadzade, Govhar Beydullayeva, Khanim Balajayeva, Ulviyya Fataliyeva and Gulnar Mammadova will face the team from Switzerland.
On R8, Azerbaijan singed draws with Italy in Open and Women’s sections, respectively.
The Swiss system tournament, which will run until September 23, features 11 rounds.
