Pakistani security forces successfully thwarted a terrorist attack in Bannu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province and killed six terrorists at different entry points of the Cantonment.
According to security sources, terrorists made a failed attempt to enter Bannu Cantonment after Iftar last evening. However, they got panicked by the timely response of the security forces and rammed two explosive-laden vehicles into the wall of the cantonment.
The security sources further said that reportedly nine innocent civilians were martyred and sixteen others were injured as the terrorists detonated an explosion laden vehicle in an adjacent market area. The blast also destroyed a nearby mosque.
Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif praised the security forces for foiling the terrorist attack and eliminating the terrorists behind the attempted strike.
The President and Prime Minister, in their statements, strongly condemned the attack and expressed grief over the martyrdom of innocent citizens in the incident.
