The Italian capital, Rome, is hosting the World Food Forum at the headquarters of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), under the slogan "Good Food for All, Today and Tomorrow." This year's forum emphasizes innovation, science, and investment, and integrates concrete solutions and international cooperation initiatives to address the growing global food needs.
The event, reported by the correspondent of AZERTAC and Maghreb Arabe Press, features the participation of numerous heads of state, high-level representatives, and experts from various countries and UN agencies. Among the participants are Morocco’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the UN agencies in Rome, Youssef Bella, FAO Director-General Qu Dongyu, and World Trade Organization Director-General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.
This edition of the forum is built around three key pillars: Global Action for Youth, Science and Innovation, and the Hand-in-Hand Investment Initiative. Discussions in these areas aim to explore innovative solutions to bolster international agricultural cooperation.
Several high-profile side events are scheduled during the forum, including World Food Day and a high-level dialogue dedicated to the "Global Framework to Address Water Scarcity in Agriculture." This framework was originally launched during the 22nd Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP22) in Marrakech in November 2016.
The World Food Forum, initiated by FAO in 2021, serves as an annual international platform aimed at mobilizing leaders, youth, and various sectors to transform agricultural and food systems, addressing global challenges related to food security and sustainable development.
