The Moroccan air transport sector recorded a milestone by closing the first seven months of 2024 with a record 18.1 million passengers, an increase of 18.5% compared to the same period last year.

AZERTAC reports, based on statistics published by the National Airports Office, that this growth is attributed to double-digit increases in both international transport (up 17.9%) and national transport (up 24.6%). The report adds that this performance was supported by positive developments at most national airports.

Regarding the geographical distribution, the Directorate of Financial Studies and Forecasts noted that air traffic continued its upward trend until the end of July 2024, with significant growth in Europe (up 19%), the Middle East and Far East (up 12.1%), Africa (up 16.4%), North America (up 8.4%), and the Maghreb countries (up 7.6%).

As for air cargo traffic and airport traffic, both increased by 24.2% and 14.8%, respectively, by the end of last July.

It is worth noting that the air transport sector set a new record in July alone, with the number of passengers exceeding 3 million, reflecting a growth of 14.8% on an annual basis.
