The United Nations World Food Programme has announced that the recent floods in Afghanistan have affected 80,000 people, according to Khaama Press.

On Sunday, May 26th, the organization confirmed in a message that ten people had died due to the recent floods in Badakhshan.

The United Nations World Food Programme emphasized that more floods have occurred in Afghanistan, causing significant human casualties and extensive financial losses.

In the latest instance, local officials in Badakhshan announced that the floods in the province’s capital had claimed the lives of ten members of a single family.

Additionally, the World Food Programme (WFP) has stated that it needs $14.5 million to provide urgent aid to flood victims in Afghanistan.

Reports indicate that from May 10th to May 17th, 9,000 houses were destroyed in the provinces of Baghlan, Ghor, Takhar, Badakhshan, Herat, and Balkh.

It is noteworthy that heavy rains and floods in recent weeks have resulted in hundreds of deaths and substantial financial damage across the country.
