Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov received Mirjana Spoljaric Egger, President of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).
The meeting described cooperation between Azerbaijan and the ICRC as long-term and based on trust, emphasizing the importance of maintaining regular contacts between the sides.
Humanitarian activities carried out by the ICRC in the region were discussed, with particular emphasis on Azerbaijan’s support for these efforts.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov noted that Azerbaijan has consistently adhered to humanitarian principles amid regional tensions and military operations, including the provision of humanitarian assistance to Iran during the ongoing developments there.
He stressed that armed conflicts today have severe consequences primarily for civilian populations and highlighted the importance of increased international efforts in this area. He also underlined Azerbaijan’s commitment to international law and international humanitarian law.
The meeting further discussed steps aimed at ensuring peace and stability in the post-conflict period. Jeyhun Bayramov informed the ICRC President about progress in advancing the peace agenda and strengthening mutual trust between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
The sides also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
