Somalia’s first resident ambassador presents copy of credentials to Azerbaijani FM

Jeyhun Bayramov, Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister, met with newly appointed Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Somalia to Azerbaijan Abdinur Dahir Fidow.

The ambassador presented a copy of his credentials to Minister Bayramov, who congratulated him on his appointment and wished him success in his diplomatic mission.

Bayramov expressed his confidence that Somalia’s first resident ambassador to the country would spare no effort to further develop relations between the two nations.

The meeting focused on the current state and future prospects of bilateral and multilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and Somalia. The two hailed the increased contacts and rising number of reciprocal visits between the two countries in recent years.

The parties underscored the importance of leveraging the existing potential to deepen collaboration between Azerbaijan and Somalia in political, economic, humanitarian, agricultural, energy, and other areas.

The meeting highlighted the significance of Azerbaijan-Somalia interaction on multilateral international and regional platforms, particularly within the United Nations, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and the Non-Aligned Movement. In addition, Somalia’s collaboration during its non-permanent membership in the UN Security Council for 2025–2026 was also praised.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov reiterated Azerbaijan’s full support for the sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity of the Federal Republic of Somalia within its internationally recognized borders.

During the meeting, the sides also had a broad exchange of views on other issues of mutual interest.
