Romania’s leading publication Veridica has published an article by political analyst Alexander Malyarenko titled “The South Caucasus Breaks Away from Russia’s Shadow.”

The article examines the geopolitical shift in the South Caucasus in recent years, noting that the regional countries are increasingly pursuing their own national interests and exploring new collaborations in security, energy, and transport.

According to the analyst, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Armenia place great emphasis on expanding alternative partnerships in foreign policy and diversifying economic and logistical ties, significantly increasing the role of the South Caucasus on the global energy and transport map.

The report describes the South Caucasus as a critical logistics corridor between Asia and Europe, noting that strengthening the strategic partnership with Türkiye, enhancing political dialogue with the United States and the European Union, and deepening economic relations with Asian countries contribute to the development of a new, balanced foreign policy model in the region.
