German Chancellor Friedrich Merz congratulated Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on peace agreement, hailing this as a great achievement during the press conference held in Berlin with Armenian PM.
“The Federal Republic of Germany has also closely accompanied and supported Armenia and Azerbaijan on this path," said the German Chancellor.
Friedrich Merz commended the agreement reached in March and the agreement on transport routes reached in Washington in August.
"This is a hopeful sign for peace and prosperity both in the region and globally. Your agreement sends an important and positive message beyond the region in these tense and volatile times. In our view, the key question now is for Armenia and Azerbaijan to take the remaining steps peacefully and for the unresolved issues to be settled through a mutual accord," the Chancellor underlined.
Friedrich Merz noted that his country will continue to support both sides on this path.
A Declaration on the Strategic Agenda for the Bilateral Partnership between Germany and Armenia was also signed as part of the visit.
