Baku hosts Azerbaijan-Spain business forum

The Azerbaijan-Spain business forum was held in Baku with the support of Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Economy and Spain’s Ministry of Economy, Commerce and Business. The event was jointly organized by Azerbaijan’s Export and Investment Promotion Agency (AZPROMO), the Spanish Confederation of Employers' Organizations, ICEX Spain Export and Investment, and the Spanish Chamber of Commerce.

The forum brought together officials from both countries, along with representatives of over 90 companies from sectors such as energy, construction, logistics, infrastructure, and more.

In his address, Elnur Aliyev, First Deputy Economy Minister of Azerbaijan, highlighted that economic cooperation between the two nations has reached a strategic level. He emphasized the vast opportunities for expanding trade and investment ties with Spain, particularly in green energy, information technology, infrastructure, agriculture, digitalization, and transport.

María Amparo López Senovilla, Secretary of State for Trade at Spain’s Ministry of Economy, Commerce and Business, discussed ways to strengthen ties between the business communities of both countries and explore potential joint projects.

Other speakers outlined business opportunities and prospects for deepening collaboration between Azerbaijani and Spanish entrepreneurs. Azerbaijani Ambassador to Spain Ramiz Hasanov and Spanish Ambassador to Azerbaijan Cristina Latorre Sancho also delivered speeches on advancing bilateral partnerships.

The forum featured B2G sessions on topics including energy and sustainability, water management, infrastructure, construction and engineering, technology, and digitalization, followed by B2B meetings.

Additionally, the first meeting of the Strategic Economic Dialogue between Azerbaijan and Spain took place, attended by Elnur Aliyev, María Amparo López Senovilla, and representatives of relevant institutions. The discussions focused on the current state and future prospects of bilateral economic relations, as well as issues of mutual interest.

The event concluded with the signing of the Protocol of the first meeting of the Strategic Economic Dialogue between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Kingdom of Spain.
