Azerbaijan’s CICA chairmanship and cooperation expansion efforts discussed

As part of his official visit to Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with Kairat Sarybay, Secretary General of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), as well as ambassadors of CICA member states.

The discussions focused on issues arising from Azerbaijan's chairmanship of CICA and the organization’s key priorities. Minister Jeyhun Bayramov outlined Azerbaijan’s main objectives as chair and emphasized the broad prospects for enhancing cooperation, particularly in transport and communications, given the strategic geographic positioning of CICA member states.

The minister also highlighted Azerbaijan’s commitment to advancing the institutionalization of CICA and expanding its activities. He underscored the significance of the new CICA headquarters in further enhancing the organization’s effectiveness.

During the meeting, the parties acknowledged that regional and global developments have heightened CICA’s role as an inclusive platform. They emphasized the importance of supporting initiatives put forward during Azerbaijan’s chairmanship and encouraging active engagement from member states.

The meeting also included an exchange of views on other issues of mutual interest.
