15th plenary session of Asian Parliamentary Assembly wraps up in Baku

The 15th plenary session of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) concluded in Baku on Thursday.

The plenary session, held under the theme “Role of parliamentary diplomacy in strengthening multilateral cooperation in Asia”, brought together members of international organizations, parliamentarians, and experts. The session focused on strengthening political, economic, and social cooperation in Asia, promoting multilateralism, and addressing regional and global challenges.

The closing ceremony featured the consideration and approval of annual reports of various standing committees. The participants heard reports on the activities of the Standing Committee on Social and Cultural Affairs, the Standing Committee on Budget and Planning, the Standing Committee on Economic and Sustainable Development, and the Standing Committee on Political Affairs.

The reports addressed critical issues such as developing inter-parliamentary cooperation in the Asian region, reinforcing economic and social stability, budget planning, and enhancing political dialogue.

Furthermore, the session included the approval of APA Vice-Presidents for 2025 and submitting nomination of a candidate for the APA presidency for 2026-2027. These decisions will contribute to ensuring the effective and consistent continuation of the Assembly's future activities.

The plenary session also deliberated and unanimously approved a number of amendments to the Charter and internal regulations of APA recommended by the Executive Council, which are aimed at improving the Assembly's activities and enhancing the efficiency of its management.
