Jeyhun Bayramov, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, met Friday with Birol Akgün, newly appointed Ambassador of Türkiye to the country.
The Turkish ambassador presented his credentials to the Azerbaijani FM.
Minister Bayramov congratulated the incoming ambassador of fraternal Türkiye on his appointment, wishing him success in his diplomatic mission.
During the meeting, the discussions focused on the issues arising from the Azerbaijan-Türkiye alliance, as well as regional and global security matters.
FM Bayramov underscored the exceptional role of the existing historical and traditional ties of brotherhood and friendship between the Azerbaijani and Turkish states and peoples in strengthening the alliance and the two countries’ joint efforts on regional and global scale.
They noted that the landmark Shusha Declaration, confirming the allied relations between Azerbaijan and Türkiye, testifies to the existing fraternal and friendly relations between the two states. The two stressed the significance of continuing cooperation across political, security, economic, trade, energy, transport, communications, cultural and humanitarian domains of the multifaceted allied relations, under the directives of the two countries’ leaders.
They commended Azerbaijan’s and Türkiye’s joint efforts within all international organizations, including the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), stressing that Azerbaijan’s hosting the OTS Summit this year would contribute to further strengthening of the organization.
The officials underlined the importance of efforts towards ensuring stability in the Middle East and Afghanistan, as well as advancing joint initiatives in Syria.
Birol Akgün emphasized that he would spare no effort in furthering the existing allied relations between the two countries during his diplomatic mission in Azerbaijan.
The meeting also saw discussions on other bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest.
